The officials of three leading global agencies are alerting on Wednesday, April 1 that the world is going to face a dynamic period of the food crisis if the respective authorities failed to deal with the current pandemic situation. Affected countries have locked down their citizen to reduce the chain of infection. But it also costs a heavy deduction in global trades and food supply.
Panic strikes deeply among the citizens that the local supermarket has already emptied massively. Thus, the issue of the shortage of food is increasing day by day. The Head of UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Mr Qu Dongyu, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) Mr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Mr Roberto Azevedo has signed jointly a text, where they said that there is uncertainty about the food availability, as there is a restriction over export and that can create a shortage on the global market.
Attack of Novel Coronavirus is deadly and disrupting to the movement of agriculture and food industry workers. Besides, restrictions over the borders just make the situations worse to those countries, which are dependent over the others from crops.
Moreover, The FAO, WHO and WTO leaders are also stressing over the need to protect the employees, who are directly engaged in food production, processing and circulation, not only for their health, also to preserve food supply chains. It is important to stay safe also. They are suggesting to work together to decrease the food shortage situation to win the battle with COVID-19 pandemic.
