Mishri, often known as rock sugar, is a naturally sweet material made from sugarcane. It is the purest type of sugar available, free of any chemicals. Ayurveda considers it as a Shadrasa Bhojana (a complete meal that includes all six tastes) to be vital, with sweet flavour being one of the primary rasas (taste). Mishri’s therapeutic effectiveness is due to the traditional manner of production.

- Saraka – Laxative
- Shukra Vardhak – Improves seminal fluid in males
- Balakaraka – Improves strength
- RaktaPittahara – Balances acid levels in the blood

Mishri, on the other hand, is considered sattvic in character and should be drunk in limited doses. It is regarded as medicinal in Ayurveda. Mishri, like everything else in Ayurveda, should be taken mindfully and sparingly. Mishri, when used as a medication, may be extremely beneficial to your health.
It may be used to absorb harsh medication, according to the Ayurvedic doctor, and it also tastes fantastic when mixed with cool beverages. Not only that, but it boosts vitality and enhances fertility while also alleviating cough and sore throat. Finally, rock sugar has a variety of culinary uses and is beneficial to breastfeeding moms.
But, if mishri is made from sugar, how is it not unhealthy in nature?
The additional processing and whitening of raw sugar with sulphuric acid is to obtain the beautiful white crystals that are pleasing to our eyes but practically deadly. This is the reason why sugar becomes bad for us. The pale yellow or grey colour of pure mishri indicates that it has not been chemically treated. It has a pH that is practically neutral.
