During this monsoon season, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation DGCA decided to ban wide-body aircraft at the Kozhikode on Tuesday. The recent incident happened last week plane Skidded off the runway in the rain and broke into two pieces because of the heavy monsoon.
The plane was carrying 190 passengers and most of them were seriously injured. And also during the episode around 18 people lost their life. Keeping in mind a heartbreaking incident of last week Directorate General Of Civil Aviation has banned the wide-body aircraft at least in this monsoon to avoid further incident to take place. However, these aircraft will get permission to fly soon after the monsoon season. Additional to this DGCA has also decided to divert the flights to Kochi, Trivandrum which are scheduled to land at Kozhikode.
In 2016 DGCA had banned the wide-body aircraft after the pressure the aircraft were allowed to fly now they are banned only during the monsoon season.DGCA has said that this is only a precautionary measure and will renew the decision soon after the monsoon.The incident that took place the last week monsoon and the size of the runway had played an important role.
