For its audio-only Spaces platform, Twitter was expected to launch a new tip-jar feature, which was later confirmed by the company. But now, Twitter wants to add a tip button to individual profiles as well. In the Twitter app, there is a new hidden button, suggesting the feature could be just around the corner.
Researcher, Jane Manchun Wong at The Verge revealed about the tip jar button that is reportedly under testing right now ahead of a complete rollout. The new tip button, just like the tip jar on Twitter Spaces will be integrated with a number of popular payment portals to allow users to easily send money to others.https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
These supported payment portals include Bandcamp, Patreon, PayPal, Venmo and Cash App. Whereas, Twitter can later add other payment options as well. Next to the ‘Edit Profile’ button, the tip button can be found.
Though the button does not reveal a confirmed rollout of the feature, it is highly likely with Twitter introducing another feature called Super Follow, which will allow users to pay for exclusive tweets, fleets and other content.
Unlike the apps classic blue colour, Super Follow shows the icons and text in black when you take a screenshot. However, Super Follow is yet to be launched for public. It can also be possible for the rollout of both the features to be around the same time.
