The Union Health Secretary retires on 31st July after the 3-months extension in April.
Preeti Sudan finally gives her first interview and talks about the COVID-19 bubble she was stuck in these days. About 6 months earlier, Sudan was the most important person, as she was the person behind helping India in this pandemic situation.
She was about to get retired in April but was given a 3-month extension due to the pandemic and maintaining the smooth flow in the country. Finally, on July 31st, she’ll give up her boots and retire.
60-year old Sudan while giving her first interview after the pandemic struck at Nirman Bhawan said “We have come a long way, the world and India. In March, I had no clue (where we would be in a few months), we were only responding to the situation and we knew a lot would depend on how the Centre, the states and the people responded. But I would say we have done better than expected,”.
She worked for 37 years and was appointed as the Health Secretary in 2017. She was an IAS officer of the 1983 batch.
