Following 46 years, the water level of Ukai dam in the period of June remained at 319.86 feet, demonstrating that there won’t be lack of water flexibly regardless of whether the precipitation this year is poor, as per the specialists.
The water level in the dam in Tapi region before storm never crossed 300-feet mark after 1974, said Ukai dam administrator engineer, HR Mahakaal. “In 1974, the water level in the dam was 318.45 feet and today it is 319.07 feet, both the readings being taken before the beginning of monsoon season. The dam is having such stock after 46 years. On June 3, 2019, the water level in the dam was 275.65 feet, while in 2018, at the end of monsoon season, the water level in the dam was 319.07 feet.”
Water from Ukai dam is provided for water system, drinking and industry purposes in Surat, Ankleshwar, Tapi, Navsari and Valsad areas. The dam specialists guarantee that regardless of whether the precipitation is poor this year, there would be no lack of water flexibly. The dam gets inflow from 22 measure stations in the neighboring Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
