Recently the former chief security officer of Uber was charged criminally for 2016 hacking.
This case charge was filed on Thursday and informed that this hacking was exposed to 57 million of the ride which the company has hailed. In this case, the US Department of Justice charged this case to Joseph Sullivan who is 52 years old and he informed that he took this step in order to keep the Federal Trade Commission from learning till hacking.
While the agency was busy in monitoring the Uber security system in order to wake of an earlier broke.
In this scenario, people thought that it is the first time when a corporate information security officer has been put under a charge.
In order to pay the money to the hackers, Sullivan himself arranged $100,000 which is around Rs. 75 lakhs under the uber program. While doing this Uber’s program for rewarding the security system who all were responsible for this report flaws. In this case, the Uber has paid with the help of a bounty program and it was said that it was not meant for sensitive data purposes.
In the investigation, Sullivan talked to a spokeswoman named as Kalanick but she declined to his comment, and she said that all the charges had no merit that Sullivan had worked upon too. Not only Sulivan his colleagues are also on the disclosure of this case and they have decided all this legally. This Uber case will Uber case will be repeated by the increasing number of companies who all deal directly with the hackers.
Many companies have their bounty program which is maid to improve their security tools and to provide some reasons for hackers so that they can stay within the laws. But some companies don’t like to stay within the laws.
