President Donald Trump was escorted by Secret Service during a press briefing due to a shooting near the White house.
President Donald Trump had to be escorted from the White house briefing room by the Secret Service because of a shooting near the White House during a press briefing to which he returned after a short break. He returned to the briefing after a while and confirmed that there was a shooting outside the White house and that everything was under control.
Trump said that “There was a shooting outside of the White house and it seems to be very well under control. I’d like to thank the Secret Service for doing their always quick and very effective work”.
The Secret Service said that the incident happened when a Secret Service officer was approached by a 51-year-old man at 17th Street, Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest near the White House.
“The suspect approached the officer and told the officer he had a weapon. The suspect then turned around, ran aggressively toward the officer, and in a drawing motion withdrew an object from his clothing, he then crouched into a shooter’s stance as if about to fire a weapon. The Secret Service officer discharged his weapon striking the individual in the torso”, said the Secret service.
