Cartoon animation have always proven to cater the attention of a mass audience. Not only does small kids get attracted towards its varied themes, characters, and storylines but there has been such immortal cartoon series and characters that are still alive in our heads even though we watched them as small kids. These memories serve as nostalgia as opposed to the modern day cartoon series where though there are lot more external elements being focused upon but a clear negligence or a total partial absentia towards elements that nurture a child in its moral upbringing. Today’s cartoon series seem good to the eyes or merely a medium for spending leisure. Watching today’s cartoon animated series there happens to be some sudden recaps of those childhood cartoon series of us and a quick rememberance of those hard to forget characters. Lilo and Stitch
Lilo & Stitch is a American animated cartoon film. Its genre is adventure science fiction and comedy and drama at the same time. Walt Disney was the one who produced and released it. It was written by Dean De Blois and directed by Chris Sanders. The story of the film is about two unconventional and vexatious protagonists: a young Hawaiian girl who was Lilo Pelekai by name, and a blue extraterrestrial creature who looked like an animal. Experiment 626 was his name. Lilo is raised by her older sister Nani after the death of their parents in a car accident and Experiment 626 is adopted by Lilo as her dog and calls him Stitch.
Phineas and Ferb
Phineas and Ferb is an American television series. The genre was a musical comedy. The premiere episode of the series was telecasted on February 1st, 2008 on Disney Channel. The series follows the adventures of Phineas Flynn and his British stepbrother Ferb Fletcher during the summer holidays. Everyday they embark on a new adventure. They have a sister called Candance and their projects used to bother her. She tries to reveal their naughty ideas to their mother, Linda Flynn-Fletcher but fails every time as each time the boys succeed in keeping the secret away by hiding their self inventions. They have a pat called Perry who acts as a spy for the OWCA, the Organisation Without a Cool Acronym, which is in charge of disrupting the plans of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, a mad scientist who wants to end the Earth.
Recess is also an American cartoon series. Paul Germain and Joe Ansolabehere were the ones who created it. The story shows how six elementary school students interacts with other classmates and teachers. The title refers to the recess period during the daily schedule, in the North American tradition of educational schooling, when students are not in lessons and are outside in the schoolyard. It shows the process of children forming their own society, complete with government and a class structure, set against the backdrop of a regular school.
Pokemon is one of the most popular and widespread cartoon series which almost everyone of us have watched. It is abbreviated from the Japanese title of Pocket Monsters. It premiered in Japan on April 1, 1997, on TV Tokyo. It was directed by Chief Director Kunihiko Yuyama. The story is about a young 10 year old boy named Ash Ketchum who wishes to be the greatest pokemon master and starts his journey searching for all the pocket monsters on the earth. In due course of this process he participates in various leagues with his friends Misty and Broke.His most beloved pokemon, Pikachu always stays by his side in every mission.
Tom and Jerry
This is the most widely loved cartoon series that single handedly managed to entertain an entire human race only with funny actions and gestures. The story is based on a cat named Tom and a mouse named Jerry and their tales of mischief. Every new episode is capable of gathering that striving attention from its audience and the audience too watched all the episodes with great enthusiasm and excitement. The series never gave any dialogues to its protagonists. This is one of the striking features of the series which attracted the masses.
Spongebob Square Pants
This animated comedy television series is also of American origin. This was created by Stephen Hillenburg to be telecasted for Nickelodeon. As the name suggests, the central character spongebob is a yellow sea sponge who lives in the Pacific Ocean and enjoys cooking. The series highlights the adventures of the central character spongebob along with his aquatic friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom. This is the fifth longest running American animated series.
Dexter’s Laboratory (Dexter’s Lab) is also an American animated television series created by Genndy Tartakovsky for Cartoon Network. The story is about a boy-genius and inventor who has a secret laboratory hidden in his room. He keeps his laboratory hidden from his parents. Only his sister Dee Dee is aware of his secret lab and always tries to find a way to break into his lab for which he quarrels with her most often. Dexter also has his genius opponent named Mandark who is his neighbour and his classmate at the same time.
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, (AoStH) is an animated series. It was based on a video game series of the same name that was produced by Sega. It came up in air on 1993. The story is about a blue hedgehog which could run at incredibly high speed. It had a best friend, a two-tailed flying fox who defended planet Mobius from the evil Dr. Robotnik and his confusing mechanical goons. The series was a small one and consisted of only 65 episodes. The first episode came up on September 6, 1993.
Courage the Cowardly Dog
This is also an American animated series but the genre is of horror comedy. It was created by John R. Dilworth for Cartoon Network. The central character is a pink coloured anthropomorphic dog who resides with an old couple in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. This setting itself creates a dark, horrific atmosphere. In each episode the three characters encounter strange, disturbing, supernatural, and paranormal situations. At the end of each episode a happy ending is shown with the loyal but timid dog named Courage defending his owners Eustace and Muriel.
American Dragon: Jake Long
American Dragon: Jake Long is also an American animated television series. It was also produced by Walt Disney and created by Jeff Goode. The first episode was telecasted on January 21, 2005. The story goes like this. Jake is a descendant of dragons. But he keeps this as a secret from his teachers and classmates. Jake also keeps secret about his training to become the first American Dragon. He protects all the magical characters living amongst humans in Manhattan with the help of his Grandpa Lao Shi and 600 year old Dog. Jake is always seen on a skateboard. He befriends unicorns, leprechauns, and mermaids to fulfill his Chinese American Heritage.
Hence these are ten among those many animated series that we watched as a child and memories assimilated by means of those are worth to cherish for.
