The Scientists witnessed a great when the ultra corona around the supermassive black hole disappearing and then again appearing.
For the very first time ever, Scientists at MIT saw the ultra corona fading by factor of 10,000 in 40 days and then almost appearing again.
After appearing again, it was now more than 20 times brighter. Though the cause is still unknown but according to some researches it is believed that maybe a star came in the gravitational pull of the black hole which resulted this odd-sense of humor.
According to the astronomers observation, there was a precipitous and surprising drop in the black hole’s brightness, by a factor of 10,000, in under just one year. After the disappearance of the corona into dispersing gases, the astronomers saw black hole began to slowly pull together material from its outer edges to reform its swirling accretion disk.
“We expect that luminosity changes this big should vary on timescales of many thousands to millions of years,” says Erin Kara, assistant professor of physics at MIT.
