On the morning of 6 August, a fire, reasons of which are unknown started in Shrey hospital, Gujarat, Ahmedabad working on corona. The fire started at 3:15 a.m. when 49 patients were inside. The fire soon spread into the ICU where 10 patients were present, resulting into the death of 8 patients and injuring one paramedical staff.
The rescue team reached by 3:22 a.m. and succeeded in controlling the fire by 4:20 a.m. 41 patients were moved to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel hospital. PMNRF (Prime Minister National Relief Fund) has promised a sum of ₹ 20,0000 to the families of deceased and ₹ 50,000 to the injured, in addition to ₹ 50,000 to injured and four lakh to the families of deceased offered by Rupani, the state chief minister.
Bodies of deceased have been sent for post mortem. The causes are still being looked into.
