In August of last year, the NCB reported two drug-related cases in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The NCB named Rhea Chakraborty among 33 people in connection with the case in a chargesheet filed on Tuesday. According to sources, NCB chief Sameer Wankhede personally filed the chargesheet in court, which is over 14,000 pages long.
The Narcotics Control Bureau, which is investigating the drug aspect of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s murder, filed its chargesheet in the Special NDPS court on Friday (March 5). Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant’s friend and actress, and her brother Showik Chakraborty are the main suspects in the case. According to sources, NCB chief Sameer Wankhede personally filed the chargesheet in court, which is over 14,000 pages long.
The chargesheet was filed with the NCB’s NDPS sessions court, which has yet to take cognizance of it. The accused will also receive the chargesheet, and the court will set a trial date for the case, after which daily hearings will begin.
The chargesheet contains about 200 witness statements, stating that all of the defendants, from whom drugs were recovered, had positive drug tests.The department claims to have submitted incriminating data, including digital evidence and call logs.
In August of last year, the NCB reported two drug-related cases in connection with Rajput’s murder. In September of last year, the NCB arrested Sushant’s live-in partner and girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, as well as his brother Showik and several others, in connection with the case. They have been released on bail. According to sources, the federal agency has arrested a total of 34 people in connection with the investigation, including Sushant’s former boss and employees, as well as some drug dealers. At least five of the case’s defendants are believed to be on the lam.
The NCB summoned Rishikesh Pawar on February 2 this year, whose name had first surfaced during the inquiry in September 2020 for allegedly acting as a drug conduit, according to IANS. Pawar’s home was searched by agency sleuths, who confiscated several electronic devices. He was also interrogated about his involvement in the drug cartel.
In connection with the case, the NCB questioned many celebrities, including Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Rakul Preet Singh, Karishma Prakash, and others. The death and financial aspects of the case are being investigated by the NCB, as well as the CBI and the ED.
