On Thursday, Indian cricketer T Natarajan earned the promised Thar SUV after impressing industrialist Anand Mahindra with his success in Australia. Natarajan returned his signed Gabba Test jersey as a token of gratitude to the businessman and cricket fan for acknowledging his journey.
Mahindra had mentioned that the SUVs would be given to Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar, and Natarajan in recognition of their outstanding performances during India’s 2-1 series victory. “In the recent historic series #INDvAUS, six young men made their debuts (Shardul’s previous appearance was cut short due to injury).
“Theirs are real ‘Rise’ tales of triumph over adversity in search of excellence. They are an inspiration in every area of life. It gives me great pleasure to present each of these newcomers with an All New THAR SUV on my own dime—at no cost to the company.”
“The aim of this gift is to encourage young people to believe in themselves and to ‘travel the less travelled path.’ Congratulations to Mohammed, Shardul, Shubhman, Natarajan, Navdeep, and Washington. I am now pleading with Mahindra Auto to expedite the delivery of their THARS,” Mahindra had tweeted.
Natarajan shared photos and wrote a note after receiving the SUV on Thursday, saying, “Playing cricket for India is the greatest privilege of my life.” My ascension has taken an unexpected path. I’ve been overwhelmed by the love and appreciation I’ve got along the way. The motivation and kindness of great people makes me find new ways to explore the almost impossible.”
During the first innings of the Gabba Test, T Natarjan, who was only in his second Test, took the crucial wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Matthew Wade. Mohammed Siraj, a three-year-old, led the speed assault. Shardul Thakur and Navdeep Saini were also in their second Test, while Washington Sundar, a net bowler, was making his first appearance.
