Now Supreme Court has given their decision regarding the University Grants Commission to hold the final year exams.
Supreme Court also said that there should be examined so that students get promoted to the higher class. This comes under the category of Disaster management Act that can act as a pandemic disease so that exams date can be postponed furthermore. It is not the case for al;l of the students, students belonging to the final year need to give their exams then only they will be promoted. This decision was taken under the restrictions of three judges headed by Ashok Bhushan and they decided to it should be decided by the state government due to the current situation of the country, then only UGC will take it’s a decision.
On 6 July UGC takes their decision and announced that all the colleges and universities should conduct exams of only final year students by the end of September. And they also told me that the exams will be held in offline mode with the help of pen and paper, or either it can be conducted in online mode or in a blended way that is in both online plus offline mode
After this statement of UGC, the apex education regulators said that the decision not to scrap the exams of the final semester is totally based on the situation of maintaining credibility. A few months later the court gives it’s a statement on August 18 and informed that all these decisions will be decided by the Disaster Management Act which will affect the final examination date.
The first time the affidavit was filed on July 6 in which people have appealed to UGC’s decision of taking the exams, in that affidavit, it was clearly mentioned that exams should be canceled due to the COPVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier the governments of Delhi and Maharashtra informed the court that they have canceled the exams in their states.
