The Union home ministry recently said that university exams in the academic interest of students to issue a notification to the University Grants Commission for university-level exams.
This decision took after the request granted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development guided by the National Disaster Management Authority. Now the permission has been given to the UGC colleges to conduct the exams. This decision has been taken after a long time in the academic interests of a large number of students. According to the Human Resource Ministry request issued under the directions of NDMA to conduct the exams.
After getting the response from students petition for seeking to cancel the exams due to coronavirus and floods in some parts of a country after all this UGC has said that they would not cancel the exams. In Delhi and Maharashtra colleges they also have taken the same decision for not canceling the exams and they need to obey all the guidelines.
In some states group of final year, students have challenged to the UGC guidelines that they all need to be promoted on the basis of their performance they have in their academics. Mostly from Assam, Bihar, Karnataka, Meghalaya, and Uttar Pradesh students are responsible for this. Maharashtra and Delhi had earlier decided that to cancel the exams for final year students, but on the other hand, UGC has told the Supreme Court that these states have no power top cancel the exams.
In the exam guidelines generated by UGC there written to promote all the students of the intermediate semester on the basis of student’s performance in internal assessment and it’s past performance. On the other hand, it is mention in the guidelines that exams are mandatory for students of the final year either online or in offline mode or in both.
