Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government has decided to auction the spectrum. The total spectrum of 2251 MHz will be auctioned. It will be auctioned for bands of 700,800,900, 1800,2100, 2100, 2300 and 2500 MHz This month a notice inviting application will be issued and this auction will be executed in March.
He said that the previous spectrum was allotted four years ago. Therefore, due to the passage of four years, the need was being felt by the industry. Its terms and conditions will be the same, which was in the year 2016.
Apart from this, it has been decided to establish a National Security Directorate of Telecommunication sector in terms of national security. This will identify whether the telecom equipment is from a reliable source.
