Sharon Stone has shared some startling details about her personal and professional life in her latest book, The Elegance of Living Twice. Her grandfather molested her and her sister as children, according to the star of Basic Instinct.
The award-winning actor recalled how her grandmother would lock them up with their grandfather, who would then sexually abuse them.
Sharon was fourteen years old when he died, and “the bizarre relief that he was finally gone” struck her like a tonne of ice.
Sharon also stated in her memoir that she was subjected to some unsettling treatment on set, including being forced to sleep with co-stars. She revealed in an excerpt that she was once invited to a producer’s office and told why she should sleep with her co-star.
She also spoke about a surgeon who raised her bust size without her permission in a recent interview. When the 63-year-old actress underwent surgery to remove benign tumours in 2001, she experienced the biggest shock of her life. “When I was un-bandaged, I found that I had a full cup-size bigger breasts, ones that he said ‘go better with your hip size,’” she told The New York Times.
In an interview with Willie Geist on Sunday TODAY, she shared her memories, saying, “The room was deafeningly quiet. If the room is quiet and no one is trying to help you, you know how close you are to death and how serious everything is.”
Sharon had known herself as a major Hollywood star prior to her stroke, having starred in films such as Basic Instinct (1992) and Casino (1995).
