After two months of lockdown, the restrictions eased in Romania. A shoemaker or cobbler, who lives in the Transylvanian city of Cluj, feels distressed that people are not maintaining the rules of social distancing. So, he decided to do something.
He came up with the long nose shoe idea that with keep people apart. Those shoes come with a European size of 75. Mr Lup, cobbler is making shoes for 39 years. According to him, people are getting closer and closer when they are gathering in the market. This shoe will help them to keep a distance of 1.5 meters between them. The long-nose shoe was initially made for the actors, till now he received five orders. It takes two days to make that shoe. He uses almost one square metre of leather for it. It cost 500 lei or $115 for a pair.
His shop was founded back in 2001. He receives orders from theatres and opera houses across the country. Also, some people ordered for the traditional folk dance ensembles. Like other business, he was also running with the downturn of profit during the lockdown, but he is optimistic about that this will recover soon.
