Rita Wilson is “grateful for [her] health” after her battle with COVID-19. The 64-year-old actress was struck with the virus alongside her husband Tom Hanks exactly a year ago, and has now said she is thankful they were both able to recover from the illness, because she understands many people have not been so lucky.
Writing on Instagram, she explained, “One year ago today I was playing the Sydney Opera @sydneyoperahouse, the next day started feeling very tired and achy, two days later hospitalized with COVID-19.”
“I want to take a moment to say how grateful we are for our health, how thankful we are for the medical care we got in Queensland, and that we share in the sorrow of each person who lost a loved one to this virus. I’m hopeful for so many being able to get the vaccine.”
The post came in after Hanks recently insisted he and Rita will be waiting on their vaccine against the virus until the ones who “truly need it get it have received it”.
