On Sunday, while meeting with his Iranian counterpart Brigadier-general Aamir Hatami Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that he had a very fruitful meeting. In the meeting, they discussed the ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and regional security issues including, Afghanistan.
The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Tweeted regarding the meeting and said that “He had a very fruitful meeting with Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier-general Amir Hatami in Iran. We discussed regional security issues including Afghanistan and the issues of bilateral cooperation.
After the visit to Moscow on Saturday Singh arrived in Tehran. Concluding his three-day visit to Russia where he attended a meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) defense ministers. He also held bilateral talks with his counterparts from Russia, China, and the Central Asian countries.
The Singh’s office posted another tweet by saying that “both the Defence Ministers discussed ways to take forward bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional security issues, including peace and stability in Afghanistan”.
It further added that the meeting between the two ministers took place in a “cordial and warm atmosphere”. The leaders emphasized the age-old culture, linguistic and civilizational ties between India and Iran.
