According to the sources, this morning the Twitter account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal website and mobile app was hacked.
As per the information about the account, it was created in May 2011. The account goes by the handle narendramodi_in it is followed by 2.5 million followers and over 37000 tweets has been posted since it was created.
However, Twitter said that it is taking steps to secure the compromised account and is actively investigating the situation and who is behind the hacking of the account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the sources, The account sent out the tweets and asked its followers to donate to the Prime Minister National Relief Fund via cryptocurrency.
In the statement, a Twitter spokesperson said that “we are aware of this activity and have taken steps to secure the compromised account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are actively investigating the situation. At this time we are not aware of additional accounts being impacted”,
In the month of July, several Twitter accounts of prominent personalities were hacked.
On August 31 the account posted its last date.
