PM cares fund was set up by the centre on march 28 2020 in the view of the crisis of ongoing pandemic and to deal with any kind of emergency situation and to manage the upcoming disaster and provide relief to those who are affected by it.
According to the reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi donated 2.25 lakh from his own pocket as the initial Corpus to the PM cares fund, as the money collected under PM CARES deployed in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and to avoid the worse situation from the Pandemic. PMO official informed that “PM Modi donated rupees 2.25 lakh towards the initial Corpus of PM CARES fund after it was set up”.
The official further added that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a long legacy of contributing to public causes ranging from girl child education to work on cleaning the Ganga to the welfare of the underprivileged”.
Earlier, Top court got a petition against the PM cares fund by a new one of the NGO called the centre for public interest litigation and telling that all collect fund in the present and the future fund collection under the PM care fund should be transferred to NDRF that is national disaster response fund.
To this supreme court responded that money collected under PM cares fund should not be transferred to the national disaster response fund and (NDRF). The court also added that funds collected by the PM care fund are entirely different and that their fund belongs to a charitable trust.
