Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a 750 MW Solar project today at 11 am through video conferencing at Rewa in Madhya Pradesh. The 750 MW solar project is Asia’s largest solar power plant. The Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project comprises three solar units of 250 megawatts each on a 500-hectare plot inside the Solar Park. It is expected to help reduce carbon emission equivalent to about 15 lakh tons of CO2 per year. The solar project was developed by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL). The company is a joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.
Prime Minister Modi will dedicate the Rewa solar project to the nation at 11 am through a virtual meeting. MP Governor Anandiben Patel, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan will take part in the program along with Union Minister for Power and Renewable Energy RK Singh. The project comprises three solar generating units of 250 MW each. It will be located on a 1590-hectare plot inside a solar park. The project will be the first renewable energy project to supply institutional customers outside the state, including Delhi Metro.
