According to an adult statement made public by the government the PM cares fund for COVID-19 3,076 crore in 5 days. The statement for the financial year 2020 only records donations when the fund was set up which was between march 27 and march 31.
PM Cares fund was set up by the center on march 28 2020 in the view of the crisis of ongoing pandemic and to deal with any kind of emergency situation and to manage the upcoming disaster and provide relief to those who are affected by it.
P Chidambaram who is the former finance minister tweeted by questioning why the names of the general students were not revealed? He further added that “every other NGO or trust is obliged to reveal the names of donors contributing more than a threshold amount. Why is the PM Cares fund exempt from this obligation?” Regarding he also tweeted that the donee is known. The trustees of the donee are known. Why are the trustees afraid to reveal the names of the donors.
Earlier, Top court got a petition against the PM cares fund by a new one of the NGO called the center for public interest litigation and telling that all collect fund in the present and the future fund collection under the PM care fund should be transferred to NDRF that is national disaster response fund.
To this supreme court responded that money collected under PM cares fund should not be transferred to the national disaster response fund and (NDRF). The court also added that funds collected by the PM care fund are entirely different and that their fund belongs to a charitable trust.
