Recently, Apple and Samsung have launched AirTags and SmartTags, a tile like an object that actually is a tracker, to locate your smartphones and other items. In the latest leak, it is seen that Oppo is also introducing its own tile-like trackers that will be called UWB (Ultra Wide Band).
According to the leak from Weibo, it seems that Oppo SmartTag is packed in a white-colored casing with the Oppo branding, also engraves with ‘Ultra Wide Band’ on it. But unlike other SmartTags, this one has a built-in battery and a USB-C port to charge it up, making the trackers more environmentally friendly as well.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s SmartTag and Apple’s AirTag come with replaceable, non-rechargeable batteries, that aren’t eco-friendly. Although, the companies claim that their trackers come with 1-year battery life.
However, Oppo SmartTags come with a USB Type-C port, creating an entryway for water and dust to get inside and impact the functionality of the device. That being the case, it is yet to be seen how Oppo is going to ensure the durability of the device.
