Initial editions of the same information said that 150 doctors, nurses, ward boys, and other staff members were sent for self quarantine after they came in contact with 2 heart patients who tested positive for Covid-19 at Max Hospital, Saket (Delhi). Fortunately, the latest updated news came with the actual fact which is 39 in number and not 150. From the sources, it has come to our knowledge that this group came in connection with 2 heart patients who were admitted in the hospital for some cardiac related procedures, but to the utter surprise, later were found to be Covid-19 positive. The hospital authority has asked everyone who came in contact with those 2 patients to self quarantine themselves.
The hospital said in a statement, “Two patients admitted for cardiac treatment tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago. 39 healthcare workers, who were contacted, have been quarantined within a separate and isolated wing at Max Hospital, Saket.” The hospital also said, “All 39 individuals are asymptomatic and will be tested on the 5th day of exposure, which is tomorrow 14/04/20.” “There are 154 employees deployed in shifts in the Covid ward of Max Hospital, Saket. None of these employees has had any exposure to the virus.”
Prior to this, approximately 30 healthcare employees comprising doctors, nurses and technicians at the Cardio-Neuro Centre in AIIMS Delhi were instructed to quarantine themselves attending the same step. The step was initiated after a 72-year-old man who visited AIIMS with neurological problems tested positive for Covid-19. Numerous doctors and other medical staff across Delhi hospitals have been tested positive for coronavirus before this case came to the forefront.
