Another incident of ‘Islamophobia’ has been reported in Sonipat, Haryana wherein a 28 year old muslim man was assaulted and his right hand was chopped off by a few hindu men. This incident took place on 24 August 2020 but the family members of the innocent reported it to the police and lodged an FIR on 7th September 2020.
The person attacked is recognised as Akhlaq and he is a barber by profession. He was originally from Nanauta, near Saharanpur and came to Sonipat in search of work. When he reached Sonipat, he sat down to take rest after this his tiring journey for a couple of minutes in Kishanpura where some young men came and asked for his name and from where he belonged to.
As soon as they came to know about his name and other information, they realised that Akhlaq was a muslim and started to beat him badly and left him in injured condition in the middle of the road. This left Akhlaq unconscious. After he regained his senses, he knocked on the door of a nearby house to ask for some water but the men in that house dragged him inside and started beating him with wooden sticks.
He realised that they were the same men who had beaten him earlier and had left him on the road. As soon as those men saw 786 tattooed on his hand , those men said that they won’t let this be written on his hand and they used a chainsaw to cut his right hand off. Later those men took him to the railway station and dumped him on the track to make it look like an accident. Later a kind man saw him in such a inhumane condition and helped him inform his family about this incident.
However, neglecting all these reports, a top Panipat police officer on Thursday said the initial investigation indicates the 28-year-old had sodomised a child and might have injured himself while trying to escape, according to The Indian Express.Panipat ACP Satish Kumar Vats also ruled out the communal angle circulating on social media.
