In a case of alleged medical negligence, a woman was given a “misleading” report of her COVID-19 test results. After learning about her actual COVID-19 status, she approached the Wadala Truck Terminal Police Station and lodged a complaint against a private doctor and diagnostic laboratory.
The complainant, identified as Shubhangi Bibhishan Bansode, resides in Pratiksha Nagar locality in Mumbai’s Sion. In her complaint, she stated that the “misleading” COVID-19 test report caused “mental harassment to her and her neighbours”. She went to the private doctor in June when she developed a headache. The doctor asked her to get tested for COVID-19 at the laboratory. Further, she alleged that the laboratory overcharged her for the test. Despite the charge for COVID-19 test being capped at Rs 4,500, she was allegedly made to pay Rs 5,000.
According to a report by The Times of India, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials informed Bansode’s husband about her COVID-19 positive status on June 6. The family immediately got quarantined and also asked their neighbours to quarantine themselves and undergo testing.
