The United Kingdom scientist has been discovered a ton of microplastics, which is also, crossed the highest limits of this element on the seafloor. More than 1.9 million pieces have been covered on the one square meter of the bottom of the Tyrrhenian Sea. This is the part of the Mediterranean Sea from the western coast of Italy.
These are harmful plastics debris; powerful deep-sea currents pulled down this and transport the pollutants within huge sediment accumulations. The so-called garbage patches used to created by the currents on the surface of the ocean. The researcher from the University of Manchester, Mr Ian Kane has stated that people can resemble the term of garbage patches of floating plastics. But this huge concentration of microplastics on the sea surface is not a good sign at all. It is a shocking event to come across.
Microplastics are made of those pieces of the plastic waste which measures less than five millimetres long. Sometimes these can be smaller in size or even invisible also. Ocean microplastics have created such huge waste areas around the ocean. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is one of them, where you can find more than 87,000 tons of trash spanning waters from the western coast of North America to Japan.
Pieces of textiles and clothing, plastic bottles used to break down into the smaller pieces by the time. This waste has no scope to filter out in the domestic wastewater treatment plants from the cities and farms, instead of that, it runs into the rivers and oceans. The toxic chemicals will harm marine life and could kill them also.
