More than 1,200 workers are ready to go return to Danapur, Bihar from Kalyan, Maharashtra on Tuesday. There are 650 migrant labours, were temporarily living in the Shastri Nagar Slum, Mumbai. The Central has set on a number of rules and precautions during this journey to home. One of them is to pay for the trip as well.
It has been stated that the sending state might bear the pay if they consider, otherwise, the passenger must pay the fare. Also, the receiving state can send the fare to railways also. But none of this happened, and the migrant labours are paying for the entire journey. As they have been sending to the railway station by bus, they also paid Rs 20 for that journey and the train fare worth of Rs 700 also.
One of them has stated to media, that he has left only 1,000 Rs. 80% of that money has gone for the ticket fare, and he had nothing much to feed his kids back home. More miserable is, many of them have no money left for the next. They don’t know how they are going to feed their family or earn again amid lockdown.
Moreover, the picture is not good during the journey also. They’ll only get the food, to drink water; they have to rely on the taps of toilets on the train. The state, the central remained silent about this service. They are returning to home with no good news.
