Lakshadweep Lieutenant Governor Dineshwar Sharma has passed away. He was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi on 25 November. Later, on 27 November, he was shifted to MGM Hospital, Chennai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have mourned the death of Dineshwar Sharma.
Prime Minister Modi said that Lakshadweep administrator Dineshwar Sharma contributed to India’s policing and security system for a long time. He handled many sensitive fronts against terrorism and extremism during his policing career. His death was very sad. Our condolences to his family.
At the same time, Home Minister Amit Shah said that knowing about the demise of Lakshadweep Administrator Dineshwar Sharma, he was deeply pained. He showed patriotism while serving as a dedicated officer of the Indian Police Service. My condolences to his family in this hour of grief.
Dineshwar Sharma has been a former interlocutor of Jammu and Kashmir. He was also the former head of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Dineshwar, an IPS officer of Kerala cadre in 1976, retired as IB chief in 2016. During his tenure, he undertook many challenging campaigns. He had rich experience in policing and the fight against terrorism.
