Nagaland was the last state remaining in the mainland, with no coronavirus cases till Sunday. Monday, they reported the first case of COVID-19. With that, Lakshadweep is the only place left with no infection. Officially, 1.3 lakh people of India have been infected with this virus.
Lakshadweep is considered as the most beautiful archipelago with 36 islands. The population of this union territory are 64,000. This union territory located at the coast of Kerala and usually depends over the southern states for the essential goods and supplies.
From its initial days, people started too restricted to allow socializing with foreigners and domestic tourists. After lockdown implication, the residence of Lakshadweep who is stranded in the mainland, the authority arranged testing through RT-PCR in Kochi and Mangalore. Only those are allowed to enter, who tested negative.
Also, the health authority used ASHA and Anganwari team to persuade people. These teams help to develop awareness among the people about social distancing. So till now, they are free from all kind of infection. And the responsive team of authority also act on the minimum symptoms.
There are three people boarded from Chennai in a Shramik Express reached Dimapur and Kohima, found positive with COVID-19 infection. Authorities are taking actions for contact tracing and containment measures for the suspects.
