According to the police, While on the way to the hospital in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta, which is about a hundred kilometers north of the capital Thiruvananthapuram, a driver of 108 ambulance service has been arrested for allegedly raping a young woman who was the COVID-19 patient.
The official said that the incident took place at the late Saturday night when the accused was taking two patients when was an elderly woman and the other was 19-year-old rape survivor 2 different hospitals in the ambulance. Firstly, the elderly woman was dropped off by the river after which the 19-year-old woman was to be taken to the hospital in Pandalam.
The accused was 25-year old Nowfal who has been removed from the 108 ambulance service.
The health minister of Kerala who is KK Shailaja has expressed shock over the incident and told the police to take strict action against the accused.
Earlier, in the month of July 2 people were arrested for raping a teenage COVID-19 patient at a COVID Care Centre.
