Iraq has been suspended the licence of the reputed news agency Reuters. As they are publishing misleading information about the number of coronaviruses infected cases. The nation is revoking the licence for three months and asks the agency to pay 25m dinars as the punishment of violating the broadcasting rules.
In a letter from the Communications and Media Commission has been stated that in this current crisis, it is important to inform the correct facts and figures as a media broadcaster. It must be ensured by the agency that they are not going to broadcast some misleading information.
In response to that letter, Reuters is on the mission to resolve this controversy and make sure that the agency will provide the actual facts and figure about Iraq. They have sent a formal apology to the health ministry.
There are 1,378 cases of COVID-19, including 78 deaths has been recorded according to the health ministry.
