On the very first day of Lockdown 5.0, India spikes with the 8,392 new cases in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra reported with 2,000 new cases, while Delhi showed up the biggest spike in COVID-19 case toll with 1,295 cases. The total number of cases increased in 190,535.
Additionally, the number of passed away due to coronavirus infection is rising up abruptly. In the last 24 hours, 230 patients lost their lives due to the fatality of COVID-19. The mortality rate is standing at 2.8%, which is considered the lowest in the world.
With this, India crossed the number of France and ranked as the seventh-worst affected country by COVID-19 situation. This statistic data released by Johns Hopkins University on Monday. On a brighter side, the number of recoveries crossed the 90,000 marks on Monday. Till now 48% of total coronavirus patients have recovered. The lockdown will extend till June 30 in the containment zones.
