As the weather is getting warmer day by day, Indian Railways decided to get a solar reflecting coating, which will turn down the heat inside by 5 to 6 degree Celsius. Indian Railways conducted a trial on 100 coaches to make this sure, and they got success.
Niti Aayog raises this issue that amid peak time of summer, the coaches will hit up. There are 5,200 coached earmarked for COVID care located at 215 railway stations around the nation. The trial will conclude within June of this year and it is expected that the temperature of coach will reduce to 5-6 degree Celsius if that would scale up.
The cost of painting has estimated to Rs 1 lakh for a per coach, including the paint and labour cost. The Railways are using a Made in India solution to reduce the temperature, which has developed by the IIT Mumbai. The solution can reduce the temperature of ambience by 15 per cent and also implied as a fire retardant.
