Indian Institute of Science Centre is working on a special ventilator that will be the milestone for COVID-19 pandemic. As India has faced a large shortage of ventilator, so the team is expecting that this prototype ventilator will be able to break the current disruptions.
This electro-magnetic ventilator is produced by using the components found or made in India. TV Prabhakar, Principal Research Scientist at the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (DESE) and one of the founders of the project say that after completing this project, this will be used without any cost.
Currently, there are about 40,000 ventilators accessible across the country, but if the number of severe cases surges; thousands more may need to be created rapidly.
Patients with brutal COVID-19 infection have reddened or damaged lungs that struggle to receive adequate oxygen. When doctors send them for ventilation, the machine decisively assists lung function, feeding the patients an inhibited mixture of air and oxygen and help their body time to fight the infection. It is expected that this prototype will be ready within the next couple of weeks.
