Aamir Khan’s spokesperson confirmed that the actor had tested positive for COVID-19. According to the spokesperson, Aamir is reportedly in home isolation. Aamir’s spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday: “COVID-19 has been detected in Mr. Aamir Khan. He’s in self-quarantine at home, following all the procedures, and he’s fine.”
Aamir’s statement also encouraged anyone who had recently been in the actor’s vicinity to get screened: “As a precautionary measure, anybody who has recently come into touch with him should get tested. Thank you so much for your kind words and concern.”
Aamir Khan was spotted at a Mumbai screening of the film Koi Jaane Na earlier this month. Aamir appears in a dance number in the film, which marks Amin Hajee’s directorial debut. In a post-screening interview with the paparazzi, Aamir Khan revealed why he stopped using social media: “Do not put your theories about that. (I live in my own world) Main apni dhunki mein rehta hoon.”
Aamir Khan had previously made the following announcement on his Twitter and Instagram accounts, both of which have since been deleted: “Thank you so much for all of your love and warmth on my birthday, guys. My heart is overflowing. In other news, this will be my last social media message. I’ve decided to drop the pretence because I’m already really engaged.”
Aamir Khan’s next film will be Laal Singh Chaddha, in which he will star opposite Kareena Kapoor. The film is a Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump, directed by Advait Chandan. Laal Singh Chaddha is set to be released around the holidays.
