Due to heavy rains in the capital of Andhra Pradesh, a balcony roof of the entrance of the famous Chowmahalla Palace has fallen to the ground on Saturday evening. It is one of the three balconies facing the palace. Chowmahalla Palace of Hyderabad is very popular among the tourists. Due to the fall of balcony after rain, a lot of lime and wood debris were scattered in the ground.
Police Inspector Ramesh Kotwal said, “Due to heavy rains, the window with the balcony has fallen down. However, the debris has not damaged those passing through it.” The repair of the balcony was to be done but the work was stopped due to the coronavirus epidemic. The team of experts suggested immediate steps to bring structural stability to the front of the palace. And to prevent further damage to the palace in the coming days. It is being said that the collapse of the balcony has not affected the basic structure of the palace.
The Chowmahalla Palace, built about 200 years ago in the 18th century, resembles the Shah Palace of Tehran in Iran. This was the throne of Asif Jahi dynasty and it was his official home when the Nizams ruled in Hyderabad. Government restored the place and opened it to tourists in 2005.
