While it is still ambiguous when the researchers will find the treatment for COVID-19 disease, they are focussing on the behaviour of this virus and how it targets. Scientists are studying its structure and how this infects the human body.
The coronavirus is surrounded by an envelope, the fatty layer. And the crown of spikes is present on the periphery of this layer, this is made up of protein. The presence of crown is considered as corona, therefore, the name coronavirus was initiated from here.
In human body, ACE2 is present, it is an enzyme that receives the virus and lets the SARS-CoV2 to attack. Then, the protein from the virus’s spike fixes with the receptor, it connects with the surface if cell and finally, the RNA (genetic material) is released. The ACE2 receptor is used by the SARS and it invades the cell.
Through molecular mechanism, the virus is replicated and through several interactions with human and virus’s proteins, it is expanded in all over the body. Researchers are still working on developing a treatment that could inhibit this molecular mechanism.
