A few days back, Peoples from China are offering good wishes to their ancestors via Online. Now Ghana is walking through in that same path also. In Ghana Funerals is a huge deal, numerous rituals, arrangements draw a huge crowd ornamented in flowing red and black robes and gold jewellery.
There are some professional mourners, who stand by the family to cry at the funerals’, as it serves as the token of recompense to the dead person. This ceremony has some symbolic rituals that include offering to the spirits of ancestors. Traditional dancing along with drumming to convoy the journey of the dead person also.
But as the Coronavirus pandemic has been spreading in fatal speed, the president of Ghana, Mr Nana Akufo-Addo has suspended all form of public gathering from the March, burials can’t be attended by more than 25 people. Along with that, the dead person must be buried within 24 hours.
All of the professionals from this ground, they are considering this virtual ceremony would serve the tradition at a slow pace. But for this pandemic, it must be followed. Despite this decision, many of the professionals are in the empty-handed situation.
