The construction work which began on Friday is for the Five new buildings on Coimbatore Medical College.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami laid the foundation stone for new buildings in Coimbatore Medical College ( CMC ) campus in the presence of District collector K Rajamani through video conferencing on Friday.
The construction work which began on Friday is for the Five new buildings on Coimbatore Medical College and the project of Rs. 80 crore includes the construction work for a four – storey institutional block for lecture halls , examination halls , Two other four-storey blocks for girls and boys hostel, a three-storey block for administration department and two-storey block for the library.
The department of medical education has planned to increase the intake of MBBS students from 150 at present to 250 after the newly constructed blocks are inspected and approved by the Medical Council of India ( MCI ).
CMC dean, Dr. P. Kalidas said, “PWD officials said that they hope to complete the construction in a little more than six months.”
