Under the 11th Pay Revision Commission, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced a 30% fitment for all government employees and teachers. The orders will take effect on April 1, 2021. Employees and teachers’ superannuation age has also been raised to 61 years.
In terms of salary increases, the announcement would benefit approximately 9.17 lakh state employees. Unlike previous governments in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, the State government has decided to implement the PRC recommendations in the areas of contract and outsourcing employees, homeguards, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, SERP employees, Vidya Volunteers, KGBV and SSA employees, grant-in-aid, work charged and daily wage employees.
In addition, the Chief Minister raised the retirement gratuity for workers from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. He also agreed to lower the age limit for receiving a 15% extra quantum pension for workers from 75 to 70 years old. In the event of an employee’s untimely death, it was decided to give a family pension under the Contributory Pensions Scheme to the bereaved family. Inter-district transfers for spouses of government employees will be implemented soon.
