The younger brother of President Donald Trump, Robert Trump died at a New York hospital, on Saturday at the age of 71. “It is with heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight. He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace,” the President said.
Robert Trump had been sick for several months, sources say. He was admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. However, details of his illness have not been released. On Friday, Trump refused to provide reporters with any detail on his brother’s illness, during a White House briefing. “I have a wonderful brother. We have a great relationship for a long time, from day one, so long time ago. And he’s in the hospital right now”, he replied.
Donald Trump made a last minute decision to go to New York Friday to visit his brother as he headed to New Jersey for the weekend. Later, as he headed to see his brother Trump told reporters: “He’s having a tough time.” News of a call being made to his hospital room late on Saturday, with the nearing death, is also out.
People who spoke to Trump on Saturday said he appeared saddened by the impending loss of his brother. Donald Trump is expected to attend his brother’s funeral. However no details about the plans are available yet.
