Cyclone Nisarga is getting stronger by the time. It is moving fast over the Arabian Sea. According to the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, within 12 hours, the depression will be turned into the severe cyclonic storm. Maharashtra and Gujarat will witness these severe storms’ landfall mostly within Wednesday afternoon.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has already sent ten units in the vulnerable districts, with the stand by position of six units. They are working on the no disruption of power supply in Maharashtra and Gujarat. As these two states are in combat with severe coronavirus infection, thousands of patients are now in hospitals for treatment.
The fishermen are requested to come back from the ocean and stayed in the safe zone. The State Disaster Management and Relief and Rehabilitation Department geared up to face the storm. A high alert has been issued by the Maharashtra Government for the Mumbai City, Mumbai suburban district, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
Indian Coast Guard deployed ships and aircraft to provide all kind of weather warnings to merchant vessels and fishermen. The chemical and atomic energy plants located in coastal Palghar and Raigad districts has been safeguarded by the Government of Maharashtra.
