As the coronavirus cases continue to surge in the southern state, the state govt has announced the extension of the lockdown till April 30. CM Edapaddi K Palaniswami considering the recommendations of medical and public experts on Monday morning took the decision.
The CM also pointed out that he supported extension of the lockdown in the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other CMs held on Saturday.The Prime Minister is going to address the nation on Tuesday at 10am and there is s possibility that the extension will be there, relaxations as well as the restart of economic activities is possible.
Tamil Nadu becomes the 7th state to extend the Lockdown before the PM’s addressing. Odisha first extended the lockdown followed by Punjab, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka & Telangana extended the lockdown till April 30.
The southern state has so far reported 1,075 cases with around 11 people losing their lives.
