India has reported a sharp drop in new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the past 24 hours, and data from the Ministry of Health released this morning shows 61,267 new cases of coronavirus. The total tally of the COVID cases in India has crossed 66.85 lakh with a total of 1,035,69 deaths, including 884 were in 24 hours.
The country had recorded 74,442 new cases of COVID and 903 deaths a day earlier, according to government data. According to Johns Hopkins University, which collects data on COVID-19 from around the world, there has been a slight drop in the 7-day average of new confirmed cases each day in India.
For a few weeks, India’s death rate has remained at around 1.5%, while the recovery rate maintained at 84.7%.
India is the second worst Covid-hit country in the world – now has 9,19,023 active COVID-19 cases and more than 56.6 lakh recoveries with 75,787 more people having fought off the disease in the last 24 hours, Health Ministry data shows.
