Indian Railway cancelled the contract worth ₹470 crores with the Chinese firm on the grounds of “poor progress”.
A Chinese company, China Railway Signal and Communication Corporation got the contract of building railways of about 400 km from Kanpur (New Bhaupur) to Mughalsarai (Now Dayal Upadhyay). This contract was worth ₹470 crores which was canceled due to the “poor progress”. However, the progress was viewed during the growing tensions between China and India.
Anurag Sachan, Managing Director of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) said “We have served the termination letter today. We would like this work to be done by some Indian player. We are drawing fresh specifications for a re-bid to that effect,”.
Beijing National Railway Research and Design Institute of Signal and Communication Group Co. Ltd being the subsidiary of China Railway Signal and Communication Corporation (CRCC) got this contract in 2016. There has been only 20% of progress in the project since then.
