Britannia Industries Ltd., a packaged food company, has launched a WhatsApp store locator service that helps customers locate grocery stores that store the company’s cookie and dairy brand. In view of the ongoing lockdown, the GPS-based chatbot publishes a list of stores near the current location of the customer, which the client, Tiger’s maker, and Good Day biscuits have recently served in a statement.
The technology solution was designed to adapt quickly to the rise in customer demand, it added. Britannia’s move is in line with other moves taken by fast-moving consumer goods producers who are seeking new alliances, and last-mile technology approaches for product distribution. Several major consumer goods manufacturers have joined food aggregator networks and logistics firms to use their distribution fleet to supply their products for over a month.
“Given the ongoing lockdown, our teams are constantly innovating to ensure high accessibility to our products, across geographies and town classes. The WhatsApp Chatbot is one such timely solution built to help consumers discover our products in their neighbourhood. The high degree of familiarity that the Indian consumers have with WhatsApp makes it an ideal platform to reach a wide demographic of consumers,” said Varun Berry, managing director, Britannia Industries.
