Coronavirus pandemic was started in early February 2020 from Wuhan City, China. But the favela resident was preparing themselves to gather all the equipment and supplies to combat with this pandemic. The head of the family was uncertain about the outcome of this crisis.
Thiago Firmino, the head of the resident was keeping an eye over China to learn and protect him and the community of the Santa Marta favela in Rio de Janeiro. He says to the media, it was an unpredictable situation if we are safe or not, at this far. It is better to take precautions when you have the time to organise the equipment.
Thiago is a community activist and entrepreneur by profession. While observing the situation of China, he immediately brought all the local Personal Protective Equipment like disinfectant sprayers, white bodysuits from a local paint shop. Moreover, a gas mask was there, as he brought them to protect from tear gas while protesting.
He didn’t stop within that. Last weekend, he suited up and started disinfecting the side streets, alleys and nooks. Though in Rio, the disinfecting process was going on, none of them has reached to the favela community.
Though in Favela community has been seen six deaths already, Santa Mara has no single report of infection. But still, Thiago is in fear, he is trying to do all the required staffs to save him and his community.
